Closed captioning

Closed captioning (CC) is text that usually appears on the bottom of video media content that allows deaf people or those hard of hearing as well as those learning the source language to understand the spoken content on the video. As with subtitling, the lines of text are inserted in the video, film or other visual content to match the audio being played. The ideal scenario for closed captioning is to have a verbatim transcription of the relevant audio portion of the content. However, this is not possible given the speed of the audio content.
